architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, drawing on the building
Architecture is not only an issue of the building but it’s also about the attitude from the beginning. It’s about making present in drawings the element what architecture is about. Creating, organizing, and detailing space.
Our opinion is that it is a continuous process. We are now busy working on some projects where even at the end the drawings comes back in the building and on the building. Not as a mental thing but as a real thing. Drawing on the building.
…those drawings are quite in contrast with the nowadays way of making representations of buildings that will be build. The representation of today is very often an issue about rendering, an issue about reality. That is a very small definition about reality. Architectural representations must have a very broad range of realities. And yes, this kind of almost artistic drawings, they sometimes contain only one track of the reality. But all together they bring a reality on which we can decide things.
It’s not that we deny modern ways of drawing because we draw in Autocad, even our perspectives. This is really not the discussion. I like it that people have the feeling that they can go and look over your shoulder and see the process. Its so much easier with a client to explain him the thing he will understand instead of trying to oppose him with a concept. Thats the point. Its about communication. Communication towards yourself, towards everyone around you.
